Our Philosophy

A Different Kind of Healing — From the Inside Out

Green Roots Acupuncture & Apothecary is a holistic health practice in Bend, Oregon, where Traditional Chinese Medicine meets modern cosmetic care.
Founded by Ashley Hazdra — a Licensed Acupuncturist, Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, and herbalist with over 14 years of clinical experience.

Whether you’re here for pain, a medical issue, stress relief, digestive issues, or radiant skin — Ashley takes the time to understand what’s actually going on in your body. She designs a treatment plan around you, not a checklist. She is hands-on, present, and attentive.  From acupuncture and hand-blended herbal formulas to cosmetic acupuncture and her own organic skincare line, everything under this roof works toward one goal: helping your body do what it already knows how to do — heal.

Why Patients Choose Green Roots

Whole-Person Healing

Every treatment starts by looking at the full picture — your pain, stress, skin, energy, and sleep. One practitioner who connects the dots and treats the root.

Natural Beauty

Cosmetic acupuncture and Microneedling stimulate your skin's own collagen — no toxins, no fillers. Firmer, more radiant skin that actually improves over time, not a frozen face.

Present, Hands-On Care

Ashley is with you for 45+ minutes of every session — acupuncture, the Kiso Method, gua sha, cupping, and massage. Real care from someone who knows your body and your goals.

Questions We Hear All the Time

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most people are surprised by how gentle acupuncture feels. The needles are extremely thin, and many patients feel little to nothing at all when they’re inserted. At times, you may notice a small sensation such as warmth, tingling, heaviness, or a dull ache, which is often a sign that the body is responding. Most people find treatment deeply relaxing.

Acupuncture has been used for centuries to support healing, reduce pain, regulate stress, and help the body return to balance. While every person responds differently, many patients notice meaningful changes in how they feel over time. Our approach focuses on supporting the whole person, not just masking symptoms.

You can customize this depending on her actual policy. Best version if she is cash-pay:

Green Roots Acupuncture is currently a self-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. If needed, we may be able to provide documentation or a receipt for you to submit on your own. Please reach out if you have questions before your visit.

If she does take some insurance, I’d adjust that language.

Both treatments are designed to support healthier, more vibrant skin, but they work in different ways. Cosmetic acupuncture uses very fine acupuncture needles on the face and body to support circulation, reduce tension, and encourage the body’s natural healing response from within so that your health shows on your skin. It lifts sagging jowls and eyelids and supports targeted collagen production in wrinkles, and can reduce puffy or dark circles around the eyes.  Microneedling creates many small vertical punctures in the skin at controlled depths, creating micro-channels that allow anti-aging serums deeper into the skin and strongly boasts collagen production to improve texture, tone, and overall rejuvenation. It can smooth fine lines and wrinkles, shrink pores, reduce scaring and regrow hair on the scalp and eyebrows.  Depending on your goals, one may be a better fit than the other, but you can incorporate both into your treatment plan.

That depends on your goals, your starting point, and how your body responds to treatment. Some people notice changes quickly, while others benefit most from a series of sessions over time. During your visit, we can talk through what makes the most sense for you and create a plan that feels realistic and supportive.

When prescribed thoughtfully and used appropriately, Chinese herbal medicine can be a safe and supportive part of treatment. Herbs are selected based on your individual needs, health history, and goals. It’s always important to share any medications, supplements, or medical conditions so care can be tailored safely and responsibly.

Here’s a slightly more elevated version of the hardest one, in case you want it to feel more premium:

Does acupuncture actually work, or is it just placebo?
Acupuncture is a time-tested form of medicine used to support the body’s natural ability to regulate, repair, and heal. Many patients seek treatment for pain, stress, hormone balance, digestion, sleep, and overall well-being. While every experience is unique, the goal is always the same: to help the body function better, not just temporarily cover up symptoms.
