The Kiso method was developed by Dr. Craig Zion Cain during his decades long practice in chiropractic medicine. During this time he found that he could realign the spine, ilia, cranium, and sacrum without the use of fast movements, popping, nor cracking. His treatments became comprised of applying pressure and manually oscillating at precise places to correct the alignment. Although the effects can be felt immediately, some cases take a few sessions for the misalignment to be fully corrected, especially if the condition is longstanding.
Not only is this practice gentler and safer for the patient, it is a way of addressing aches and pains that haven't been relieved by other modes of treatment. Misalignment of the skeletal structure due to injury, poor posture, muscular tension, or repetitive strain can impinge nerve conduction and blood flow resulting in muscle spasms, pain and long-term degeneration.
Dr. Cain saw the complementary functions of acupuncture, chiropractic, and massage therapies and decided to train only these professions in the Kiso Method. I trained under the direct supervision of Dr. Cain at his busy practice in Hilo, Hawai'i. After completion of seminars, reading, and plenty of hands on guidance, Dr. Cain certified me to practice the Kiso Method of non-force alignment.
In my clinic everyone is assessed as an individual and I may incorporate the Kiso Method within my treatment. I do realize many people are afraid of needles and there are alternatives to acupuncture, including the Kiso Method, acupressure, myofascial release, cupping, gua sha, and moxibustion.
